The Royal College of Midwives is warning that vital perinatal mental health support is on the precipice, as it launches a new ‘roadmap’ to ensure women receive the support they need and to improve perinatal mental health care in the UK.

Yesterday the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) approved new Standards of proficiency for midwives and Standards for pre-registration midwifery programmes. The RCM has been actively engaged with the NMC on the development of these standards.
