RCM Awards 2020 - celebrating in style

Awards RCM Annual Midwifery Awards coronavirus

The extension of the UK lockdown has meant it is impossible for the RCM awards ceremony planned for 5 May to go ahead. We had really hoped that restrictions would have been lifted in time for the midwifery community to come together and celebrate its successes and its achievements.

The RCM awards is the greatest opportunity in the year to say a huge ‘well done’ to teams and individuals who are exceptional and who are making a huge difference. A record number of entries, were whittled down to 65 shortlisted finalists, judged by their peers in January, and are now all waiting to hear who the 13 winners are. We are so proud of the midwives, student midwives and MSWs who have taken part and we are desperately sad not to be able to showcase them at our annual awards party.

But while there will be no party, no champagne and no posh frocks this year, we will make sure that every one of those winners receives the attention and accolades they deserve. Throughout the first week of May to coincide with International Day of the Midwife we will be focussing on these amazing award winners through our social media channels and in local press. To all the amazing maternity teams across the UK – we will get through this together and we will come together and celebrate. Please join those celebrations through your branch Facebook, through twitter and Instagram during IDM week.
