MIDIRS became part of the RCM family on 1st April 2019, strengthening and enhancing our support of the maternity community as a whole. Over the coming months, we look forward to sharing with you how this new alliance can support your CPD, your studies and your practice through our combined range of information resources. You can now sign up for the monthly MIDIRS newsletter for free.

MIDIRS services

Some RCM members will already be familiar with MIDIRS and will therefore know the vital role it has played in helping improve maternity care for women, babies and their families over the past 30 years. This small, dedicated team has valuable experience in providing high-quality, evidence-based information resources for maternity health care professionals and students. In the coming months, we will explore how we can make MIDIRS' subscription-based services available to RCM members.

  • MIDIRS Midwifery Digest: famous for its easily recognisable bright pink cover, this quarterly journal explores a diverse range of topics spanning pre-conception, pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond. Endorsed by experienced practitioners, professors and researchers around the world, it aims to capture the essence of midwifery practice and maternity care.

Practising midwives, student midwives, MSWs and those aspiring to become a midwife will find the MIDIRS Midwifery Digest of great value to them in both theory and practice areas.
  • MIDIRS Reference Database: further support can also be found in the midwifery-specific reference database; a massive bibliographic library of over 250,000 reference articles. In addition, the Enquiry Service team are available to offer first-hand help with searching for those elusive research topics either by phone or through the online chat service.

To mark the beginning of a new phase for MIDIRS, RCM is pleased to offer all members the opportunity to sign up, for free, to the monthly MIDIRS e-newsletter, which provides easily accessible maternity updates, news, research, events and guidelines. It’s a great way of keeping in touch with current maternity affairs.  Sign up today and discover how MIDIRS can support you.
