Research prioritisation project

The RCM launched an exciting new project on 17 July 2023. We will be undertaking a research prioritisation project to establish the top 10 priorities for research and we want all members of our profession, together with student midwives, MSWs and service users to get involved.

The aim is to identify the future research priorities for maternity and midwifery care and disseminate widely.  This will be achieved by:

  • Working with The James Lind Alliance | James Lind Alliance (nihr.ac.uk) (JLA) to establish a ‘top ten’ list of research priorities for maternity and midwifery care.
  • We will work with midwives, student midwives, maternity support workers, women and birthing people during the project.
  • Publicising the results of the prioritisation exercise with RCM members, maternity professional organisations, women’s stakeholder groups, policy makers and funding bodies.
