RCM announces beginning of new chapter with move to London Bridge

The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) has announced the beginning of a new chapter in its history with a move to a new headquarters in London Bridge. The move, which is due to take place over the summer, will enable the RCM to provide improved support for its nearly 50,000 members.

The building on Union Street is already home to other women’s health organisations, most notably the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists.

Speaking of the move, RCM Chief Executive Gill Walton said:

“This is an exciting step for the RCM and a real investment in our future. The new headquarters will allow us to work more effectively across the College, providing even better, more timely support for our members. Sharing an address with other organisations not only speaks to our ongoing work to develop better collaboration and partnership, it is also an opportunity to create a centre of excellence for women’s health.

“While we will be sad to leave the famous blue door at Mansfield Street behind, the ethos and spirit that it engenders remains strong across the RCM.”

The new headquarters will also be the permanent home of the RCM Library, a unique resource for students and researchers in maternal health.
