OBE for RCM Director in New Year Honours

On the eve of International Year of the Midwife there is good news for the RCM’s Executive Directive for Professional Leadership Birte Harlev-Lam. Birte has been awarded an OBE in the New Year’s honours for services to maternity and children’s care.

Commenting on her OBE, Birte said:

“I am overwhelmed but also proud to have been recognised in this way. This honour also belongs to all my colleagues over the years who have supported and worked alongside me. It also belongs to all the women, babies and families that it has been my pleasure to support and care for over the years.”

Birte has been a midwife for over 34 years working across a range of areas within midwifery. She previously worked at NHS Improvement as the Clinical Director for Maternity and Children’s Services.
