NHS Lanarkshire named Kellogg's All-Bran Midwifery Service of the Year at RCM awards

This year in the Kellogg’s All-Bran Midwifery Service of the year category there were joint winners and the midwifery team from NHS Lanarkshire shared the stage with midwives from University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) Trust maternity services team to celebrate their achievements.
The Kellogg’s All-Bran Award for Midwifery Service of the Year recognises excellence in significant improvements and innovation in the provision of maternity care. The judges consider in this category maternity services that show a real commitment to improving team work within multi-disciplinary teams.
Members of NHS Lanarkshire midwifery team picked up their prestigious award at a special awards ceremony in London yesterday (Tuesday March 6th). Good Morning Britain news anchor Charlotte Hawkins presented the winning midwives and MSWs with a special trophy.
Commenting, Gill Walton Chief Executive and General Secretary at the RCM said; “I wish to congratulate each and every member of the midwifery team at NHS Lanarkshire for all the great work they’ve done to improve the care that they deliver.
“NHS Lanarkshire is an excellent example of a service that has been consistently seeking to improve the maternity service it delivers and they have an engaged, enthusiastic and empowered team of midwives supporting the wider multi disciplinary team implementing those improvements which is resulting in high quality care for women and their babies.”
What the judges said; “NHS Lanarkshire stood out to us as an example of a maternity team that have the last 2 years responded to service user feedback. This has meant a very significant change and improvement in physical ward environments and working patterns for staff. It is a credit to the midwifery team that while these changes were underway the high quality service to women and families has continued and quality improvement work has continued rather than stalling.”
