Christmas single in support of UK midwives shines light on the incredible work they do all year round says RCM

This Christmas the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) has once again teamed up with Pampers’ for their #ThankYouMidwife campaign to raise much needed funds for the RCM’s Benevolent Fund*.

Following the success of last years TV advert this year Brit Award winner and mother of one Paloma Faith has lent her vocals to a new Christmas single of Silent Night which features on the TV advert and also includes vocals from the #ThankYouMidwife choir.

If you download the single Silent Night by Paloma Faith Pampers’ will donate £1 to the RCM’s Benevolent Fund which is a charity set up by the RCM that supports midwives and maternity support workers in times of financial hardship and need. The fund provides financial assistance to those in immediate need and helps RCM members to get their lives and careers back on track.

The song is available to download from iTunes and Amazon Music and its will also be available to stream from a variety of music platforms.

Commenting, Gill Walton Chief Executive and General Secretary at the RCM said; “Midwives and maternity support workers work tirelessly to deliver safe, high quality care to women and their families’ right across the year and Christmas can often be the busiest time of year for our members. So we are delighted that Pampers’ continue to recognise the fantastic work UK midwives do to ensure every woman has a positive birth experience.

“Every download of the single is a crucial donation to the RCM’s Benevolent Fund and each donation will go towards making a real difference to our members during tough times in their lives.”

Paloma Faith commenting said: “I am so thankful to my midwives for the uncompromised care and support they gave me and my baby, which is why I jumped at the chance to be involved in Pampers #ThankYouMidwife campaign.

“I had a long, difficult labour, but the midwives were there every step of the way. The Midwives supported me through a 20-hour labour, working all through the night. I wasn’t dilating, the baby was in jeopardy and I had to have an emergency C-section.

“I can never thank the midwives at University College Hospital in London enough for the way they looked after me. I know they are doing the same for thousands of other mums and babies across the country, and for that, they should be celebrated.”

Faye Cruickshank from Pampers, said: “At Pampers, we want to continue supporting the UK’s midwives for their important role in the happy, healthy development of every baby. With around 54,000[1] babies due to be born in December and 4am being the peak time for births, we know the Christmas period doesn’t slow down for UK midwives and we want to say an extra special thank you for this and for their amazing work all year round.”
