Former RCM CEO is made a dame

Former RCM chief executive Cathy Warwick CBE has been made a dame in the New Year’s honours list 2018.

Cathy was recognised for her services to midwifery, as were three other midwives who also made the list.

Wendy Matthews, director of midwifery and deputy chief nurse, Barking, Havering, and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, has been recognised for services to midwifery with an OBE.

Dr Tracey Cooper, head of midwifery at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has been awarded an MBE for services to midwifery.

And midwife Verena Wallace has been recognised with an MBE for services to midwifery in Northern Ireland.

A damehood has also been awarded to chief executive of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust Jackie Daniel for services to healthcare, in particular her leadership in the turnaround of the trust following its ‘inadequate’ CQC rating in 2014.
