A Sheffield student midwife who has shown incredible dedication in supporting midwifery and healthcare students has named the Royal College of Midwives Pregnacare Student Midwife of the Year Award.

Charlotte Ellender is chair of the Sheffield Hallam University student midwifery society and is a dynamo of activity. A role model for students, she scooped the award for her work supporting other students and promoting midwifery as a profession through lectures at schools and colleges. Charlotte also delivered a presentation at the RCM’s education conference last year.

Gill Walton, Chief Executive of the Royal College of Midwives, said:

“It’s great to know that the future of our profession is in the hands of student midwives like Charlotte. Her leadership and passion for midwifery shines through and her care and support for her fellow students is an example to us all. She is a wonderful student, she will be a wonderful midwife, and she is an inspirational and well-deserved winner of this award.”

Susanne Bisinotto, for Pregnacare vitamins said,

“Charlotte’s passion for midwifery shines through, presenting a positive image of the profession and providing an inspiring role model for junior healthcare students. Her commitment and compassion in engaging and caring for others is exemplary”.
