A Warwick midwife has received a prestigious Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Fellowship for her inspiring midwifery work. Sarah Noble, Head of Midwifery at South Warwickshire Foundation Trust, received the award at the RCM’s national Education Conference in Leeds on Wednesday.
Sarah said: “I feel enormously proud and honoured to be awarded an RCM fellowship. I really want to use this platform as a way of being able to give back to the profession, especially in terms of coaching and mentoring future midwifery leaders. I have personally benefitted from the input and support of senior fellow colleagues and know the difference it can make; especially when things are challenging.”
The RCM Fellowship has been awarded to Sarah for her ground-breaking work in areas such as community-based continuity of carer for pregnant and postnatal women.
Gill Walton, Chief Executive of the Royal College of Midwives, said: “Sarah is one of just four fellowships being awarded this year. Her work throughout her career has led to better care for women, babies and their families locally and nationally. She clearly sees the value in investing in services and supporting women to have the best possible pregnancy, birth and beyond. In this the International Year of the Midwife she is a true leader and a real inspiration to us all.”
Sarah’s career has taken her from frontline care on maternity units, the military and through to work on national projects including Better Births, England’s national maternity plan. As a clinical midwife she also supports a group of local women virtually through FaceMums. This is a social media-based midwifery service providing pregnant women with access to additional support.
Sarah added: “I am so proud to be a midwife; it is such a privileged role at a magical time in peoples lives. I am accepting this honour on behalf of my colleagues and the women, babies and families we care for.”

Sarah has a broad experience of maternity services and has worked in several NHS trusts across England and Wales, in the private sector, military both in the UK and aboard. She is a panel member on the national maternity review and contributed to the recommendations in the Better Births Report. Locally she has Led the implementation of maternity transformation. The organisation has been recognised for their achievements especially the service wide implementation of continuity of care in the Community Hubs. The trust has been shortlisted in the RCM awards for Midwifery Service of the year. Sarah also contributes to several national maternity initiatives.
