RCM responds to CQC report and rating of Basildon maternity services

By RCM responds to CQC report and rating of Basildon maternity services on 19 August 2020 RCM NHS

Commenting on the CQC’s report and rating of Basildon Hospital’s maternity services, Gill Walton, Chief Executive of the Royal College of Midwives, said:

“While the CQC recognises that improvements have been made at Basildon, it is clear that there is still a long way to go. Safe, good quality care for women and babies can only be achieved if teams work together. All those involved in maternity services – midwives, obstetricians, anaesthetists, neonatal teams and maternity support workers – must work together and learn together to change the culture into one which sees the care of women as a shared endeavour.”
